Online Dating: What Research Says?

Most of research examined that when it comes to long-term relationship, the concept of Online Dating is working for some people. Though there is very limited data found to prove whether online dating is failure or success still few researchers who sampled heterosexual daters have something to say about it. A research by Rosen et al. found that 29% of people on Top Online Dating sites found serious relationships via this digital medium of dating.

One research by Dutton et al. in year 2009 found that about 6% of married couples had met online in the UK, 5% in Spain and 9% in Australia. When researcher checked on younger people the percentages were much higher. In the United States, 42% of couples between 26 and 35 first met online while In United Kingdom, 21% of married couples between 19 and 25 first met online. Usually interaction starts with intention to Connect with Friend and turns into serious relationship.

Many of us, no doubt put off internet dating after listening to many scary stories about lies and false promises made online. These stories somewhere stick in our minds. The research, however, suggests that most Online Dating Partners are comparatively honest and, for some at least, it can be successful.
